SEP Supported Employment Program
The Transition & Support Program (also know as the Supported Employment Program, SEP)aims to provide support and services to individuals who are recently employed and are residing in the inner city. BOB staff working with the SEP program work to develop strong relationships with inner city employers, encouraging local hires and fostering supportive employee-employer relationships.
Transition Support Coordinators
Transition Support Coordinators work with Employers and Community Service Providers to ensure that inner city residents connected to BOB are successful at work by:
• Providing post employment supports and counselling as required
• Referring people to other resources in the community
• Providing mediation services between client and employer, feedback and advocacy for clients
• Maintaining positive and collaborative relationships with clients that encourage long term job retention
• Providing practical support such as transportation to work and grocery vouchers for up to two-weeks before first paycheque.
• Working with SEP participants collaboratively to identify personal and career goals.
• Collaborating with other service providers and connecting inner-city residents to various training programs
• Following up with SEP participants on their progress by conducting work-place visits on a regular basis.
Through the Supported Employment Program, BOB aims to support clients in retaining their employment for up to 3 months.
Employment Relations Specialist
BOB’s Employment Relations Specialist strives to increase the number of jobs made available to inner city residents and increase the suitability and relevancy of these jobs by:
• Meeting with inner city employers to establish job opportunities and application requirements
• Coordinating job postings (posting, recruiting and providing follow-up) that facilitate the hiring of local residents
• Working with Employment Support Coordinators in supporting the transition for SEP participants in the workplace.
• Liasing with employers to coordinate interviews for inner-city applicants
• Proving feedback to applicants
